Zumba?

Has anyone out there tried Zumba? I've been thinking for a while now about trying it. I'm kind of a "closet dancer". I dance, but it is when no one is home or back when we lived in a 2 bedroom apartment I would do it with the door closed. I guess this is why I've hesitated to try Zumba. If I don't even like dancing in front of my husband why would I do it in front of strangers, especially with my two left feet. But then again, when I was at Snow College I took an aerobics/tae bo class and loved it. But my roommate and I would hang at the back of the room, along with the football players who were trying to have an easy credit. So I didn't have to really be in front of anyone. I searched to see if there was a Zumba video on Hulu and came across a video of some talk show people learning how to do it. It amazed me how just watching 2 minutes of that boosted my mood. Imagine actually doing it! I'm sure I could just get a video of it, but then I still have the challenges of 1) wanting to get out of the house and not being on the clock with The Baby and 2) dancing while someone is watching. I'm looking for your thoughts? Have you done it? Does it take lots of coordination? Will someone like me end up in a tangled mess on the floor?

  1. ME!!!!! I love zumba, I go at least once a week! And trust me there are plenty of people who aren't coordinated in the class, but it's all about having fun and focusing on your own best workout. The first time may seem kind of overwhelming but once you keep going and get used to the routines it's really easy. I go to 24hour Kapiolani.

  2. Agree -- even if you can't keep up all the time, or swing your hips like the instructor it is still FUN. It's the energy and the environment. Totally do.it.
