Happy Monday! (said with a lot more enthusiasm than I currently feel)
Are you ready for our first goal? I am actually. I wasn't though.
About 30 minutes ago I was standing in the shower crying out of
frustration. That frustration mostly stems from my feeling of constant
failure. I did not want to set some goal for myself and any of you
that want to join me and once AGAIN fail at reaching it. I'm tired of
failing and I'm tired of feeling crapy and I'm tired of being in pain
and I'm just plain tired.
Lovely mood, isn't it? My Poor Husby had to wake up to this
wonderfulness this morning. Anyway, back to crying in the shower. I
wish I could say that I suddenly had an overwhelming feeling that I
can accomplish my goals. I didn't. Or some wonderful epiphany.
Negative. So what got me out of the shower? The fact that life must go
on, including My Husby getting to work.
So then I sat down to eat my bowl of oatmeal and bananas and I once
again would like to say that something wonderful happened to suddenly
motivate me but such a thing just isn't happening today. Instead the
"motivator" that came was pain. My tooth suddenly reminded me I have
been putting off going to the dentist for a year now and I'm painfully
aware it's time to change that now.
So this week's goal for physical health isn't the obvious, expected
"exercise for 20 minutes everyday" bit. Instead, it's to call the
doctor or dentist and set up that appointment you've been putting off.
Is it that yearly exam or that root canal or the fear of getting
glasses that has kept you from complete physical health? If so, this
week is the week to change that (and get rid of that nagging guilt
your conscience has been sending you). If you're up to date on all of
those things, how about just an annual physical? Have you gone to the
doctor not sick just to get an overall picture of your health? And not
being one to exclude, if you don't have insurance or your plan is
"lacking" and you don't have the financial means have a pretend
physical with yourself. Go to Wal-Mart and check your blood pressure.
Run for 5 minutes to see if you can and then ask yourself some honest
questions and then give yourself some honest answers. If you were in
the doctor's office what would he/she say?
Lose 20 lbs?
Reduce your salt intake?
Get more rest?
D. All of the above?
Taking care of our physical bodies really is more than just
establishing an exercise routine so commit with me today to make that
appointment.
Thursday is check-in day. Write down, whether in your own journal or
on here, how it's going for you.
Here's to our health (and a low doctor bill)!
