other day I drove all (yes, 5 miles is ALL the way when you have a
baby) the way out to K-Mart to return a shirt I had been given and buy
dishwasher detergent. That was the sole purpose of the trip. They
wouldn't take back the shirt because they no longer carry it so if
they gave me anything it would only be a penny. I then proceeded to
shop. For dishwasher soap you ask? Nope. Didn't even cross my mind.
Instead, I bought three other things, none of them resembling anything
you can clean a dish with. That night my husband asked me, as he was
loading the dishwasher, if I had also gotten soap. And then, and only
then, did I remember that's what I had gone to the store for in the
first place. We proceeded to laugh and then I proceeded to cry which
makes me think I need more emotional help as well.
On a positive and completely unrelated note I did something entirely
out of my comfort zone the other day. I emailed someone and asked her
if she wanted to become my walking partner. I was waiting for a big
fat "um... No!" response but she said yes and not only that but she
was excited. We decided we are both desperate for some social (read:
non-kid) interaction and some exercise. The rain threatened our
success, but thankfully it stopped and we went on our first walk last
night. It was definitely one of the highlights of my week. I'm so
excited to keep it up because not only does it get me out of the house
and interacting with an adult but it also gives me time to exercise
and I get to strengthen my friendship. Health benefits all the way
around- I get triple points for that.
And as far as how I'm doing on my goal this week...
Monday: A+
Tuesday: C-
Wednesday: B+
Outlook for the rest of the week: Good (helps to have company in town)
I have to say I have been praying for help and can really see how I
have been blessed to accomplish my goals.
How about you? Have you disconnected? Read from a book? Talked a
little more to those around you? What benefits are you gaining from
disconnecting a little more from all the gadgets in your life?
