I've been thinking about turning points and I keep getting a scenario of images in my mind.
Here you are traveling along on a certain path.
Then suddenly you have a turning point, something that makes you change your course dramatically.
You are now going very much up hill, in a new direction, and frankly it can be hard. There is a pull to go back to the old way, the old habits, the old lifestyle, the easy way. That pull is strong because you are so fresh in your new journey. The old way is so close, so familiar, just right there. It would be so easy to just go back to that old way and it may feel as though you are and always will be struggling if you continue on this new path.
But there is hope! The longer you continue on this new path, the easier it will get simply because you move father away from the old way, the old habits, the old lifestyle, the easy way. Then one day you wake up and the new way is no longer new, just you. And going back to the old way would take effort.Moral of this story: If you have a turning point in your life, don't get discouraged when the journey is hard right at first. Don't get discouraged when you know it would be easier to quit and go back to the easy way. Climbing up hill is hard. But soon you won't be climbing away from something, you won't be fighting the old and new battle. It will get easier.
great illustration! I never thought of it that way but it totally makes sense!
